The ASET/GATE test is fully government-funded and identifies the top 2.5% of students through a rigorous test held in March.

The ASET/GATE test has four equally weighted components –

Reading Comprehension (30 minutes for 35 multiple choice questions)
Writing (25 minutes – one piece of writing)
Quantitative Reasoning (30 minutes for 35 multiple choice questions)
Abstract/Non-verbal Reasoning (20 minutes for 35 multiple choice questions)

Please note Test Champs is their new business name.For us it was a waste of money and time to enrol our child. My child didn't learn anything significant for GATE and didn't enjoy the coaching either. The teachers do not provide any feedback on the marked work, its either right (tick) or wrong (cross) on the weekly assessment sheets.They assessed my child initially and offered a customised program, however, their final assessment included questions which were not covered in the coaching classes and the child was not taught enough of the material to attempt those.I am leaving an honest review as the current Google reviews are overexaggerated and were misleading for us.

I took my twin boys to Scholastic Excellence throughout 2021. This was a very important step in their preparation for GATE test this year. Kids really enjoyed the experience and always told me how much they liked the teachers in English and Math. I could see that the admin staff also looked after the kids very well. Without Scholastic Excellence, the twin boys wouldn't have achieved what they achieved this year, namely both accepted by Rossmoyne SHS GATE program. I would strongly encourage parents to take their kids to Scholastic Excellence, with or without having GATE in mind.

Atrociously lazy marking. They can’t even follow their own marking key for multiple choice tests.
Just found 8 marking errors in a single 35 question test. And still have half the test to review.

If it weren't for the Scholastic Excellence tutoring service there would've been no way that I'd receive the results that I've hoped for. The lecture notes are not only straight-forward and comprehensible but also reflect the syllabus dot points and past exam questions. In addition, Mr Yap always went above and beyond providing extra challenging questions (that you cannot find in your study guides) and has taught us various methods on how to tackle one problem. Furthermore, no matter how little you know or even if you don't understand a simple concept, he would take his time to make sure you understand the concept fully. Thus, it is his respect and patience for students that differentiates him from other teachers. I can guarantee you that this tutoring service will help any student who wishes to excel in their chosen subjects.

(another bonus is that Mr Yap is super friendly and hilarious, so it's really easy to approach him with any questions that you have :) )

Scholastic Excellence has been an extremely beneficial tutoring and education provider for my child. The program is tailored to both ends of the spectrum, those students requiring catch up as well as those requiring extension to continue to extend and challenge those gifted and talented children. My children owe a lot to scholastic excellence. All three if them were blessed to get into PEAC and GATE schools and did extremely well in all their NAPLAN exams.
From all the extra work given by scholastis, my children have also performed very well in the Australian Maths Competition, getting distinctions and high distinctions.
